Top Foods for Controlling High Blood Pressure
Pistachios
According to dietitian Kristin Kirkpatrick, as reported by Time, nuts are a valuable component of a healthy diet because they provide plant-based protein, fiber, and beneficial fats. Another dietitian, Melissa Majumdar, specifically highlighted pistachios as a promising choice.
Majumdar explained to Time that pistachios have the potential to lower blood pressure due to their phytosterols, which also help reduce cholesterol, as well as their monounsaturated fatty acids and high fiber content. This recommendation is supported by a 2021 study published in the British Journal of Nutrition, which found that pistachios were associated with a significant decrease in systolic blood pressure.
