The designers describe the IWI as a blank slate where a variety of activities can unfold:

"The space can be extended or compressed based on the needs of the user. In its compressed form, it functions akin to a piece of furniture or a shelf. When fully extended, it transforms into a living space equipped with everything needed to serve its various potential uses, such as a home office, yoga studio, relaxation area, workshop, meeting room, guest room, and so on. It promotes flexible use both indoors and outdoors, with the added benefit of compressing to minimize environmental impact."

Inside the IWI, all furniture and amenities are cleverly condensed into the rear module, which effectively clears the rest of the space for any current activities.
