Step Inside: Couple's Transformation of Shipping Containers into a Luxe Residence
1.Home Inspiration
After five months of hard work, the duo turned three 40-foot-tall, 8-foot-wide shipping containers into a three-bedroom heaven, with two placed on the ground floor and the third on top facing the opposite direction. They affectionately called it the OG Box.Inspired by their passion for Japanese architecture, the bespoke 40-foot-long home showcases clean lines and incorporates Japanese-style elements, such as the shou sugi ban trim surrounding the windows and doors. This technique involves lightly torching wood, rendering it more resilient against pests and weathering.
Moreover, the home was constructed from a high cube shipping container, which stands one foot taller than a standard container, providing a total height of 9.5 feet.
