Serene Seaside Retreat Is Built With Wood Scraps
The Saltviga House, a stunning creation by Swedish firm Kolman Boye Architects, stands as a testament to the beauty and sustainability of using recycled materials in architecture. This modern live-work residence, located in Lillesand, Norway, boasts an exterior adorned with 12,000 pieces of oak wood flooring offcuts sourced from Danish company Dinesen.
The idea to repurpose these offcuts came from the architects' familiarity with Dinesen materials, coupled with a desire to "ennoble" what would have otherwise been discarded. This innovative approach not only adds aesthetic value but also aligns with eco-conscious principles by reducing waste and lowering embodied carbon.
