What Is Kisqali?

Kisqali is a brand-name prescription medication indicated for treating an advanced form of breast cancer in women. It is specifically designed to address breast cancer with the following characteristics: •Metastatic or locally advanced: Kisqali targets breast cancer that has progressed either to distant sites in the body (metastatic) or locally within the breast area and nearby structures, such as lymph nodes, muscle, and skin (locally advanced). •Hormone receptor-positive (HR-positive): Kisqali is effective against breast cancer that is hormone receptor positive (HR+), meaning it responds to hormone therapies. •HER2-negative (HER2-): Kisqali is beneficial for treating breast cancer that lacks the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2-).

How Kisqali Works?

Kisqali is prescribed for particular forms of breast cancer, containing the active ingredient ribociclib. It operates by inhibiting enzymes known as CDK4 and CDK6, which oversee cell growth in both cancerous and healthy cells. In cancer cells, these enzymes can become overly active, prompting uncontrolled division and proliferation. By obstructing these enzymes, Kisqali can impede or halt the proliferation of cancer cells in the body.

Dosage and Treatment

Kisqali is supplied in tablet form with a strength of 200 mg. A treatment cycle spans 4 weeks. For the initial 3 weeks of the cycle, a daily dosage totaling 600 mg (three tablets) is recommended, either with or without food. Following this period, a 1-week break precedes the commencement of the next cycle. Please note: In case of severe side effects, your doctor may adjust your dosage or discontinue treatment altogether.

Kisqali Cost

As per the official website, Kisqali tablets may range in cost from approximately $6,000 to $15,000 per month, contingent upon your prescribed dosage. However, the actual expense of treatment is subject to variation based on factors such as your insurance coverage, geographical location, and the specific pharmacy you patronize.
